Finding your Bashert?

Do you believe in the concept of soul mates? Do you believe the Divine chooses a match just for you and you two belong with one another?

I don't know about anyone else, but I think he did with me.
We seem to synch together nicely. We seldom argue and when we do, it is usually because we are bored to death and are looking for entertainment(yes, we are weird like that.)

Ever since I heard about the idea in high school, I've always loved the concept. I wrote a humorous dating book about all my bad adventures trying and trying and trying, and it turns out that the right person was in front of me all the time. Even when I was young, we probably crossed paths, but in the end, it just took HaShem sending me messengers to tell me what was right.

Well yes & no. I believe in soul mates; but I don't believe that you always find each other. Besides, isn't the Jewish tradition that 40 days before boy is born, Hashem designates his bershert. Well my boyfriend is 10 years younger than I am...so how could I be his bershert?

No I think that we chart our own path, and them Hashem adjusts accordingly. But that is just my own limited and very human view of things. For many years I struggled with lonliness and not being seen as desirable in the eyes of any man I met. But then my boyfriend came along, a non-Jew who crossed my path AFTER I became a Jew. But I think Hashem just heard my heart...and this was the guy that could fit the bill. But if would have come along even 5 years ago...he wouldn't have been suitable for me.

In our case, I don't think that we belong to each other. But rather we are willing to come together and build a home. Yeah, that's more like it.
