I guess that depends on who you ask.

I definitely see an upswing here in NY and on the internet you will see many as well. I see a very big Ba'al T'shuvah, Jews returning to their roots, upswing also.

Of course if you ask evangelical christians and/or messyantics, they will tell you there is a great upswing of Jews turning to "you know who". The only good part about that, is most are unlearned Jews and when they start to learn more about "their" Judaism, a large number of them "return".

For the most part, from what I have observed, most people who "convert" to Christianity do not know much about the bible, either Hebrew or NT. They convert for emotional reasons and then start with the NT and work backwards.

A large number of people who choose Judaism are pretty well learned, most coming from some sort of "spiritual" background, with many being very well versed ex-Christians.

Once they dig a little deeper into the "Jewish Roots" of the NT, if they are honest with themselves, start to see Christianity has very little to do with true Judaism.

There is a saying in Judaism that refers to the NT -

If it's something good, it's not new.
If it's something new, it's not good.

That's my opinion anyway! :)

In terms of "Messianic Jews" (also knows as Christians!), my really bad joke is that if we don't like a particular shul shopper who shows up on Shabbos, we should invite them back the next day for communion.
